I'm sorry if this has been asked before, like I mentioned before, I'm new to persians. First off, Jasmine is really coming around. She was out so much over the weekend, it was really nice. She likes to sleep with us in bed, which I really do like....with one exception. She really smells. Her previous shelter was rather clean but reeked of cat urine which is what she stinks of, that and cat poo.

I bought cat shampoo this past weekend and yesterday, gave her her first bath. She didn't say a word and was very calm, didn't squirm much either which was nice. I was anticipating a battle......had this been Sami our short hair tabby, I would've been clawed and I am sure the whole neighborhood would've know I was bathing a cat.

Now, after I dried her, I hung the towel up in the bathroom.....OMG, the smell of that towel was horrible. I let her dry and then later brushed her coat. She does smell a lot better, but, I think she could use another bath, she still has a bit of stink.

My question now, can I giver her another bath this coming weekend or is this to soon?

You can bath them as often as they need it. Show cats get bathed more often (mine twice a week). I wouls suggest using a dyer to dry her - no heat though.

If you have pet cats (not show cats), then bathing depends on the cat rather than a schedule. One of mine is very greasy, but if I bathe her more than once a month, her coat gets worse, not better. So she gets a bath once a month. The others are closer to once every 4-6 weeks because they have fine almost dry fur and if I do it more frequently, their fur looks terrible. They get a thorough comb-out at least every other day and some are done daily. I use a blow dryer that has an adjustable speed/temperature selection, so I can turn the speed all the way up but keep the temperature low so it doesn't burn them. One of my Persians does not mind the bath part, but if I try to dry her and comb her at the same time, she freaks out, so I have to dry a bit, comb a bit, dry a bit, etc.

If your kitty still stinks, I would bathe her again and then wait to see how her coat looks after a few weeks. It will take a little while to figure out when she will need a bath based on her coat and skin.
