I want to get some nice home theatre speakers. These are like the ones I am thinking about getting from new egg.

Do they scream "Scratch Me!"

Yeah I would get something with smaller speakers which you could mount up on the wall. I have a surround sound in my basement with teeny speakers on the wall and they are nice and loud. The rear surrounds are on the wall but the left one is reachable from the back of the couch and the cats are always messing with it. Demons!

When Muffins was a kitten we had a 65" rear projection tv one of those with the speaker below the screen and that mesh stuff covering it...she used to run across the room as fast as she could, launch herself in the air and attach herself to the speaker with all 4 paws. The ex used to chase her every time and she would run away but she would be back in the room in no time, ears back...planning her next jump.

This sounds awesome. I can't understand why your ex didn't encourage this...

     Those speakers would last 2 days here before the covers were shredded!

Like Jen said, smaller, mounted is a better option. Maybe mounted ON the celing? ;)

Uh yeah - I heard it from here

Those small wireless surround systems are pretty powerful!
