I think Sheba definately has a UTI because you said she's dripping but that's she's trying to urinate and only drops are coming out. That's when they're really having problems. I don't actually know how much the injection is tho maybe someone here who's been really recently to the Vet for their cats UTI can tell you as we've had many people mention urinary probs.

That was smart re not removing the sofa so she can go there if she's going to go tho maybe w/o your daughter around she won't do that again and if she's having difficulty going you may not see any urine anywhere just your cat making many trips to the litter box but not being able to go. Really if you could take her tomorrow to the Vet that would be best.

Good luck. I hope Sheba will be Ok...

You need to put her on a high protein diet and get her off the grocery store cat food (Iams is also one as far as I'm concerned). I'm not trying to give you a hard time because I know first hand what it is to be so tight on money...but really you will save yourself a ton of money in the end. Put her on something like Taste of the Wild...it is fairly inexpensive and you will find she wont eat near as much so it will last longer. A small bag is about $10...but you wont be running to the vet for UTIs either. A lady that adopted a couple of kittens from me a few years ago was feeding Purina Cat Chow...same problem except this kitten was put to sleep before she spoke with me. Her vet said it was a liver shunt and my vet spoke with her vet and said after looking at his previous test results in which they rulled the liver shut...it was a diet induced liver shunt. So poor quality food can do alot more than cause UTIs. Something to consider. Potty problems in a cat of your Sheba's age is serious...she really needs to see the vet and most of the time if you speak with your vet they will work with you on payment.

Thank you so much we are going as a walk in right now at a place down the street from us so she will not have to wait until Wed. I will get the new food as well because when I started buying that purina I remembered about my other cat but I thought oh the new food they have maybe ok because she was on Iams for a long time but this market near me would never have it so that is how she started on purina in the first place. I am taking the name of the food with me so I can get it while I am out thanks so much.
Now it is trying to get her from under the bed because she is in a spot that I can not get to and my arms and back don't work so well as to be moving furniture. But it is a emergency so I will get her one way or another.

 I am so happy to say that Sheba got the care she needed thanks to all of you, it was really great information. She got the pain shot and I have her antibiotic. She even got meds for her ears which I had them look at because I knew her ears were getting too dirty too soon. She is running around already. I wish I had known they were open on the weekends.

So glad you were able to get her to the vet. What did they say was the problem? Were you able to find food as well?

They just called today and said there was blood in her urine but there were no crystals. I was going to get the food yesterday but I wanted to make sure they were not talking about she had to go on prescription food. I will get it today or order it now. I don't know how I will give her the meds twice a day because she hides from me when she know I have to do stuff to her and it was a time this morning giving it which means she miss last night.

Thanks :) THat's Chunk. He's a blue smoke.

Did they give you pills or liquid? You can try crushing the pills and mixing them with baby food and then giving it to her. The liquid is usually easier just hold her in one arm, then oipen her mouth and squirt with the other hand. I know... sounds so much easier than it actually is.

Always give a cookie after!

Glad to hear you got Sheba to the Vet and everything was taken care of. Now you just have to be able to give her the meds. Try waiting until she's present for her feeding and then don't approach her like you're going to give her medicine tho rather just pet and love her. At least hopefully you can get one dose in this way  You may have to block off her access to the bed, closets and such so she can't hide from you.

I always ask for liquid medicine for my cats as I can't pill them period! When I did get pill form medication I always asked if it could be crushed and if so would crush the medicine and mix it with a tiny bit of gravey from the wet medicine and give this first before a feeding so my cats would be hungry and eat it.

Good luck with getting Sheba her meds and I hope she'll be feeling fine ASAP!
