I am in no where near bad a shape as Ellen but have been trying to paint Cassie's bedroom but I have to fill and sand all the joins as the last people that had this house did a lousy job. Anyway the old Susan would have had it all done and finished by now. I love painting and stuff but at this rate she will be lucky if its done by Christmas, she is 8 so thinks she will come home from school and it will all be painted. I so far have been trying to do it for nearly 2 weeks.

Sitting causes huge back pain so in the mornings I try and do the stuff for the business so that makes the back mad and then I go in her room and do stuff until I can't stand anymore, it is so frustrating. So Kevin calls me at 5 last night and said the bank manager had given him 4 tickets for the osu basketball game. I was by then gimping around the house and could not possibly go and sit for 2 hours so he took the kids with him, plus I had reached the really cranky stage of the day. This back has totally taken away any fun things. Like I said to Kevin I needed advance notice so I could have lied down all afternoon to be able to go.

Most days I deal with it and do what I can but some days it gets on top of me. You sort of get used to the constant pain in some degree. Sorry to whine am still feeling pretty sorry for myself. I still hate the fact I can really no longer do anything.

Susan

Susan,

So sorry that you have to go through this. Backs are so easy to injure but are extremely difficult to get back to 100%. What is your prognosis for any recovery/relief?

My brother hurt his back shortly after graduating college quite a few years ago and still lives with the pain everyday. He was such a happy kid growing up - always laughing a smiling. Now he doesn't laugh or smile nearly as much. He has managed to be successful at his job though. He is the basketball coach at our hometown high school (Stilwell, Ok) and he won his 100th game last week. He has been the winningest coach at that school for a year or so now.

Susan, have you tried the epidural shots? I have also suffered from back pain for the last 25 years and this past year, I decided I had enough, so I decided I was going to get to the bottom of my pain. Spent time at the gynocologist's office to be sure it wasn't gyno related, which it wasn't .. ended up having a CT scan done, and then on to a pain specialist, for the epidural. Even tho it was expensive, it was the most relief I have found in years. I can't say I'm totally pain free.. some days are better and/or worse than others, but I do feel better that I did prior to the shots. Don't be afraid of it.. You won't even see the needle, and barely even feel it. They use x-ray's to guide the needle into the precise area.

I did try the shots, it was great for the couple of hours that the lidocaine they injected in to do them worked but once that wore off it was back to normal. I may try them in my si joints as they are about as messed up as my back.

Aww Susan, I am so sorry you are having this pain. I think back pain is the worst. It cripples you. It's so hard to constantly say "No" to activities you really want to do and be forced to rest all the time. I am thinking of you and sending along my prayers.
