I love this program our hospitol has now..
at 50 they send each woman an invitation for
an exam...once you go, you are on the list.
Then every two years you receive a letter in the mail
with your apppointment time and date...you just call to
confirm.
So there is no putting it off, no putting it out of your mind,
since it is all done automatically.
And......it's all free!!!
Our hospitol has a great new mammogram machine since the last
time I was in....all digital and state of the art!

Purrs,
Joan

Good stuff Joan ... I haven't had one yet and am somewhat fearful (of pain and of possible outcome)

Same here. I've been putting it off for exactly the same reasons.

First of all ladies, the pain is minimal (but quick)...worse for small-breasted women, but the alternative is a whole lot worse! There are a lot worse things in life (medically speaking). If you're over 50 or have family history, go take care of it!! Stepping off the soapbox now

There really isn't any pain--it is uncomfortable, but not painful. Getting yearly mammos is very worth it, as I recently found out, as has another user here. I would do a mammo every 2 months to have avoided the surgery, radiation, and oral meds that I now have to take for 5 years.
