Joey our 9 year old DSH Tabby has had loose poops for 2 weeks now. Other than the weight loss there is no change in his appetite or drinking. He moves slower and is less agressive about his food bowl, Ty hasn't been "Head Slapped" in more than a week.

Any ideas? I don't want to drag him to the Vet and spend $$$$ if it's nothing and will resolve itself.

Hate to say it but with lost weight, loose stools for that long and not generally acting like himself I think a vet visit would be the smartest option.

When you can notice weight loss, change in behavior and loose stools x2 weeks that seems to warrent a vet visit to me as well. It may be a simple fix like getting a script for cat food that firms up the stool and some medicine tho I would think bare minimum your cat needs to be examined and perhaps have some labs run esp. since he's 9 years old and you have other cats in the household.

Having said that.. my 15y.o. Persian Winston w/CRF and other probs was having loose stools for over week, sluggish behavior, then started to have diarrhea. I took him to the Vet and he had some labs, got some meds for his tummy, got a script for Hills Science diet (wet/dry)w/d which he didn't really care for much and I put him on a raw food diet and his stools have firmed up and his appetite/intake is greatly improved. He's also getting fluids sub q once/week.

Good luck w/Joey, please keep us posted.

He has a sensitive tummy and vomits with everything we've tried except Science diet and everyone has been on this one since 2006. The Vet had us try Pro-plan but it wouldn't stay down. He's not vomiting. I'll call the Vet. :(

If I bring him to the clinic she can squeeze him in at 4:45. I'll let you know what she finds.

I hope Joey will be OK and whatever it is will be something that is treatable. Winston has had a "touchy" tummy now for quite some time and was reduced to one or two flavors of friskies wet food gravey only part of the wet food and his kibble without diarrhea (foul smelling). Then he started vomiting and having diarrhea and I was so worried so I'm so pleased about the raw food diet he "loves" and inhales down practically like Bog the Inhaler~ (love that nickname for Bogart).. well now my Winston isn't have diarrhea or vomiting even tho he has CRF and he's got some other healthcare concerns too.

Ok sorry to babble on. I really hope all is Ok with Joey so I'll be looking for your update and hoping for the best!

He has "White ears" what ever that is. Sigfificant weight loss, loss of muscle tone and a large mass in his belly.
They are going to do a x-ray in the morning, and depending on what that looks like, blood work will follow.
It's not looking good :(

Re the white ears I wonder if that means Joey's anemic or overgrowth of candida (yeast)? I know you won't know anything definitive until further testing re the mass in his belly. Sending supportive thoughts/prayers human and kitty cyberhugs.
